What We Do

The Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation is dedicated to promoting the participation in the great game of lacrosse here on Long Island and New York City while promoting the safety, quality and high standard of sportsmenship of the game. We do so through several principle means:

  • The establishment and continuity of the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame which honors those people in Long Island metropolitan area who have done the most the nurture and promote the great game of lacrosse.
  • Organizing and running  lacrosse competition events each year such as the Greenport Shoot-Out Tournament for youths through Masters’ teams
  • Promoting the game through the dissemination of lacrosse news
  • Organizing and running  special lacrosse events including  Special Needs Clinics, the B.R.I.D.G.E. initiative for start up programs, and a 9/11 Memorial
  • Awarding scholarship money for local lacrosse players going to college
  • Recognizing high school champions in Nassau, Suffolk, and New York City as well as unsung heroes/heroines in varsity programs
  • Gathering lacrosse people for a golf outing to raise funds for selected charities
